Those who enjoy making gourmet food are always eager to demonstrate to their friends and relatives for them to taste the delicious dishes they like making. A more useful way to let people sample your favorite and best dishes would be to start a wholesale food business. In this way, you would be able to make money as you continue to serve people with wonderfully made food.

When you get to start this kind of business, the first thing is to invite the friends or relatives to just come and sample the food free of charge and as they do so they will be coming back for more. It is a means of getting contacts and clients for your business.

Offering to volunteer at social events in the schools, or other such places can also help to spread the news about your cooking. Take with you several types of dishes that are your best and get as many people as possible to taste them.

Once you finish with this, the next step will be to serve at small parties and gatherings at house functions. People will soon begin to ask for more of your food, and this will give you a good client base.

Any invitations to people’s parties or houses should be accompanied with one dish or the other which you will use to entice people to start enjoying your food. In this way, you will keep introducing people to a list of dishes that they will find interesting.

As people begin to get interested in you and the selfless way you offer to feed people, you will form many friends who will be commenting about your food most of the time. That is a clever way of winning customers and very soon you will be making some sales on the side.

Also consider serving at community events and meeting more and more people there as end up building your circle of friends. The community activities might just be to volunteer to serve at a booth in a church compound, or school event. It will offer you a golden chance to display your best dishes and serve people freely.

To cut down costs, go for affordable foods and smaller portions, but do not charge expensively for them. At first it will be a bit difficult but eventually when the customers start to like your food, you will be able to recover the moneys you spent at this early stage.

Know the kinds of opportunities that exist. There are more ways to open a coffee business than simply opening a restaurant-style franchise. While an eat-in coffee place is a well-known sight among coffee fans, there are many other ways that a coffee franchise can operate. Consider the other ways that coffee can be sold before deciding on one. There are coffee stands and mobile coffee operations that make perfect business opportunities for some entrepreneurs.

Some coffee varieties are highly popular, but only for a short time. High-priced coffee, for instance, fell out of favor quickly when the economy made it difficult for many people to afford that luxury. While coffee is considered a necessity to coffee drinkers, consider whether one specific type of coffee franchise is a fad or whether it may have real staying power. Decide whether you want to serve a specific type of coffee or a broader spectrum of coffee types and blends.

Know the general demographic of your area before opening a coffee franchise. A rural area that doesn’t have a lot of commuters may not be a suitable place to open a coffee stand or restaurant. A larger metropolitan area or one that gets a lot of commuter traffic moving through it may be better suited because of the larger customer base. Take a look at how many coffee restaurants and stands already exist in the area and how much traffic they get each day before making a decision.

Understand the high profitability of a good cup of coffee. The expense of creating a cup of coffee is low while the potential retail price can be quite high. A good cup of coffee is one that your demographic will be willing to pay a premium to get- and they will likely do it with great regularity. A coffee drinker who finds a type they like may buy a cup every weekday or even seven days a week. If you can get a good number of regular customers, your overall expenses will remain relatively low while your profits will skyrocket.

Virtually any coffee business includes has a number of add-on items that add to the overall profitability of the business. A coffee restaurant or stand doesn’t just sell coffee- there may be muffins, pastries, coffee beans, coffee mugs, bottled water and a host of other items that bring in a higher average amount per sale. Depending on the franchise, these may be a few smaller items, or the business may have so many items for sale that coffee is only a complementary item to encourage the sale of other items.

Ice cream is always a huge treat for families and kids on hot summer days or to celebrate something special. Baskin-Robbins provides dairy-free and gelatin-free Ices and Sorbets. Carl’s Jr. fast foods have vegan English muffins, hash-brown nuggets, Great Stuff (TM) baked potatoes with all-vegetable margarine, and CrissCuts. Add their variety all you can eat salad bar with delicious Italian dressing that is fat-free, and the whole meal is complete – vegan style, that is!

Wendy’s is another example of a fast food chain providing vegan items. They have a veggie sandwich with a special button on their cash register to allow for no mistakes, and a Deluxe Garden Salad that is vegan as long as you ask them to leave out the cheese. Taco Bell fast food restaurants have many options that can be made vegan as long as the meat, cheese and sour cream is left out. They also have something called “Fresco Style” for vegans which mean Fiesta Salsa can be substituted for cheese. Even their 7-layer burritos can become vegan if you ask them to simply leave out the sour cream and cheese. Arby’s has garden salads and baked potatoes, along with cherry and apple turnovers or cinnamon rolls.

The Cheeseburger Cheeseburger fast food chain is located in the South, the East Coast, and the Midwest. Delicious and mouth watering, two vegan dishes they provide are the Boca Burger and the Grilled Portobello Mushroom Sandwich. A wonderful truck stop restaurant, the Iron Skillet is located in all Petro truck stops on most Interstates. They have a wonderful salad bar with just about anything to choose from, in addition to meatless spaghetti, along with ice tea topped with fresh lemons and hot fruit pies.

The Subway Sandwich fast food chain has several sandwiches without meat, such as the Veggie Delite on Italian bread. They offer chips cooked in sunflower oil, and a wide assortment of drinks. Many popular Pizza establishments also are providing vegan or vegetarian pizzas now as alternative choices along with a salad and hot bread rolls. Taco pizzas are delicious with tomato sauce, refried beans, lettuce and tomatoes while telling them to leave off the cheese. Papa John’s has no animal products in their dough or sauce with a special cheese called Chymax (R). For vegans who eat out, sometimes it is impossible to find vegan foods no matter how hard a person tries. In that case, it is always possible to order any food and leave items out that are not vegan.

There are many reasons why entrepreneurs decide to sell their business. Sometimes it’s because there is no one to inherit the business, or sometimes they feel that they have to give up their business for retirement. Whatever their reasons, whether it is financial or otherwise, sellers always desire the same result: to earn as much profit from the sale as possible. Only a sale that earns a handsome profit for the seller can be termed a successful sale.

Know the right timing to put your food business on sale. One common mistake entrepreneurs commit is that they sell their businesses when they are too desperate for a sale; either when they are too weak or financially too beaten to manage it. This fact could be used by wily buyers to leverage a much lower price for the business since your health condition (or other reasons) makes you look desperate to sell your food business.

There isn’t a specific time or age to sell your business. As a businessperson, it is advisable that you be open to good offers to sell your food business at all times.

Learn to look for prospective buyers intelligently. Place your business in a sale list or put up an ad in your local papers to inform people that you are interested in putting your food business on sale. List your ad as early as possible. Getting your food business listed early gives you leeway to get a number of bids that you may compare and consider; it does not mean that you sell your business to the first interested party.

Once you have decided whether it is time to sell your business or not, the next step is to be clear on what assets you are including in your sale. Which of your tangible and intangible assets (trademark, goodwill, client list, etc) are you going to sell? Put this down in black and white.

Last, work out a fairly accurate asking price. Knowing which assets are for sale will help you determine the worth of your business. Keep in mind that assets are not the only factors that influence the price of your business. Aside from the assets, some factors that will determine the price of your sale include:

· Timing of the sale
· Brand value
· Number of clients/patrons
· Business Potential (possible growth of your food business)

You may determine the price/worth of your business through asset-based valuation and future-earning valuation. These two methods work best when they are combined.

Lastly, you should get help in selling your food business, whether it’s from an experienced entrepreneur or from a professional broker. Getting help is important because experienced third parties can give you objective views on the potential of your business and the best way to sell it. They can also help you negotiate a better deal for your business.
